Why do we continue to struggle with sin after salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christians continue to struggle with sin because they still possess a sinful nature and live in a fallen world.

Despite being redeemed, believers continue to grapple with sin due to the residual effects of the fallen nature, what Paul refers to in Romans 7 as the struggle between the spirit and the flesh. This inner conflict is part of our existence as we live in a world marred by sin. The reality of our ongoing sinfulness leads us to greater dependence on Christ's grace and mercy. John emphasizes this struggle in 1 John by highlighting that acknowledging our sinful condition is essential to authentic Christian living. While our position in Christ grants us forgiveness, our daily experience reflects the ongoing battle with sin until the day we are glorified.
