Why do we emphasize grace in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Grace defines salvation as a gift from God rather than a reward for effort.

Salvation is emphasized as being by grace to underscore that it is entirely the work of God and not based on human effort or merit. Ephesians 2:8-9 states, 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.' This highlights that God’s favor is unearned and freely given. Grace reveals God's character — His willingness to act on behalf of the helpless sinner. It removes any grounds for boasting and leads to a genuine appreciation for the depth of His mercy.
