Why do we emphasize looking to Christ for our salvation?

Moses' encouragement in Deuteronomy 31 points to an essential truth: the law cannot bring us into salvation; it is only through Christ that we have redemption. The typology of Moses and Joshua indicates that while the law illustrates God's holiness and the need for obedience, it ultimately cannot save.
