Why do we need a mediator according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

A mediator is necessary to reconcile us to God, as our sins separate us from His holiness.

The Bible stresses the need for a mediator because human sin creates an insurmountable barrier between mankind and God's holiness. In our fallen state, we are unable to approach God without a means of reconciliation. As underscored in 1 Timothy 2:5, there is one God and one mediator, Christ Jesus, who bridges the gap between our sinful nature and God's perfect righteousness. He alone can atone for our sins, allowing us to be received by the Father in grace and mercy. Therefore, understanding Christ as our mediator is pivotal in grasping the fullness of the gospel.
