Why do we need a mediator in spiritual matters?

Answered in 1 source

We need a mediator because humanity cannot approach a holy God without an intermediary due to our sinful nature.

Humanity is estranged from God because of sin, which creates an insurmountable barrier. Romans 3:10 reminds us that none are righteous on their own, and therefore we cannot adequately mediate our own case before a holy God. Only Jesus, as both God and man, can bridge this gap. He pleads on our behalf, offering His righteousness to satisfy God's justice, allowing us to be reconciled to the Father. Without a mediator like Christ, we would remain in our sins, with no hope of being justified or accepted by God.
