Faith in Jesus as our high priest is necessary for reconciliation with God and for receiving eternal life.
Believers need faith in Jesus as their high priest because He is the appointed mediator who satisfies divine justice on their behalf. Without faith in Christ's sacrificial work, one cannot be reconciled to God, as Hebrews 11:6 teaches that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Through faith, Christians receive the eternal life that Jesus promises in John 17:3, where He states, ‘And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.’ Faith acknowledges and accepts the grace provided through Christ as the high priest, making it the means by which salvation is appropriated for each believer.
