Why do we need to beware of false teachers?

Answered in 1 source

False teachers can distort the gospel and lead believers away from the truth, as warned in Philippians 3:2.

The New Testament frequently warns against false teachers who introduce destructive heresies and distort the gospel message. In Philippians 3:2, Paul admonishes believers to 'beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.' This serves as a reminder that not all who preach claim to do so in truth. False teachers can undermine the foundational truths of grace, leading believers astray with a false understanding of God’s word. Therefore, a vigilant approach to discernment is necessary to protect one's faith and ensure alignment with the true gospel, safeguarding the integrity of worship and the edification of the church.
