Why do we not need to fear in times of trouble?

Answered in 1 source

Believers are assured that they have nothing to fear because of God's faithfulness.

The psalmist in Psalm 49 emphasizes that true believers have no reason to fear in times of evil or distress. Verse 5 poses a rhetorical question reflecting this confidence: 'Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil?' The answer lies in our relationship with God, who is always present and supportive. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. This assurance affirms that even amidst trials, God remains sovereign, guiding us towards His peace and comfort. The promise found in Romans 8:31 that 'if God be for us, who can be against us?' serves to reinforce the believer's confidence that no external circumstances can rob us of our hope in Him.
