Why does God allow suffering according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

God allows suffering to fulfill His greater purpose, often to strengthen faith and bring glory to His name (Romans 5:3-5).

Suffering is a prominent theme in the Christian experience and is often seen as a tool used by God to accomplish His greater purposes. The Bible teaches that suffering can lead to perseverance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3-5). Just as Jesus allowed the death of Lazarus to ultimately demonstrate His power and glory, God uses our trials to refine our faith and draw us closer to Him. This enables believers to not only understand God's sovereignty in their suffering but also to share in the redemptive story of hope He offers through Christ. Recognizing this can empower Christians to face trials with resilience, trusting in God's ultimate plan.
