Why does God allow suffering for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

God allows suffering in the lives of Christians to mold them into the image of Christ and to deepen their faith.

God permits suffering in the lives of Christians as a means to realize His purposes in our lives, which ultimately leads us towards spiritual maturity. As stated in Romans 5:3-5, suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Through trials, believers are shaped and made more like Christ. These experiences test our faith and refine our spiritual lives, equipping us for the eternal glory that awaits us. Suffering is not without significance, as God uses it to teach us dependence on Him.
