Why does God allow wickedness in the world?

Answered in 1 source

God allows wickedness to fulfill His divine purposes, ultimately demonstrating His sovereignty over all creation.

The presence of wickedness in the world is difficult to grapple with, yet Scripture reveals that even this falls under God's sovereign control. Proverbs 16:4 states, 'The Lord has made all things for Himself, yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.' This suggests that God has a greater purpose even in the existence and actions of the wicked. Through their actions, God can demonstrate His justice, mercy, and ultimately work all things together for good for those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). The story of Esther shows how God uses the wicked intentions of Haman to serve His plan, culminating in the salvation of His people. In understanding this, believers are called to trust in God’s sovereign timing and goodness, even amidst the chaos of worldly wickedness.
