Why does God require a Savior?

Answered in 1 source

God's holiness and justice necessitate a Savior to address sin.

God's perfect holiness and justice require that sin be punished. In Romans 3:25, we learn that Christ was set forth as a propitiation to declare God's righteousness and to be just while justifying the sinner. This means that God, in His righteousness, cannot simply overlook sin or forgive without justice being satisfied. Therefore, a Savior is imperative to bear the punishment for our sins to reconcile us to God, as seen throughout Scripture.
