Why does God sometimes feel distant from Christians?

Answered in 1 source

God may feel distant due to sin in our lives that disrupts our fellowship with Him.

God's perceived distance can often be traced back to sin and rebellion in the hearts of His people. As Isaiah 59:2 indicates, our iniquities separate us from God and lead to a sense of His hiddenness. When believers stray from their devotion to God or allow sin to dominate their lives, they may feel as if God is hiding His face from them, which can lead to spiritual dryness or confusion. However, it is essential to understand that God's hiding is not due to lack of love; instead, it serves to draw believers back to repentance and renewed relationship. The assurance of God's mercy is beautifully captured in Isaiah 54:8, where He promises kindness and compassion to those who return to Him.
