Why does God want us to pray?

Answered in 1 source

God desires us to pray so that we can express our needs and depend on Him for guidance.

God invites us to pray as part of the covenant of grace, where He desires us to inquire of Him for our needs. In doing so, we acknowledge our utter dependence on Him and recognize that He is the only source of help. This is beautifully illustrated by David in Psalm 142, where he pours out his heart to God in distress. God has created this avenue for prayer so that we may establish a relationship of trust and reliance upon Him, knowing that He hears and answers our cries according to His will. As we pray, we find comfort in the reality that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us, ensuring our prayers align with God's purpose.
