Why does sin displease God?

Answered in 1 source

Sin displeases God because it contradicts His holiness and righteousness (2 Samuel 11:27).

Sin is fundamentally an offense against God's holy nature. In 2 Samuel 11-12, we see God’s displeasure with David’s actions, illustrating that sin not only harms our relationship with Him but also brings about negative consequences. The consequences of sin often serve as reminders of God's justice and the seriousness with which He views disobedience. Recognizing that sin is a breach of God’s righteousness helps us understand the gravity of our actions and the importance of seeking His forgiveness and grace.
