Why does sin have no dominion over Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Sin has no dominion over Christians because they are under grace, not under the law.

The promise that sin shall not have dominion over believers is rooted in Paul's teaching in Romans 6:14, which declares that Christians are not under the law but under grace. Being under grace liberates believers from the controlling power of sin. The law, while holy, only exposes sin and increases its grip on the sinner. In contrast, grace empowers believers to resist sin's lordship and provides a new nature that desires to follow God's commands. This transformation is a direct result of God's sovereign grace, which not only saves but also regenerates and sustains believers, thus breaking the chains of sin and enabling them to live righteously.
