Why is a one-time decision for salvation not enough?

Answered in 1 source

A one-time decision overlooks the biblical teachings of a continuous life of faith and obedience in Christ.

Many assert that a one-time decision suffices for salvation, but this view is contrary to the Scriptures. 1 Peter 2 reminds believers of their ongoing need to 'come' to Christ, illustrating that salvation is a living, active relationship. The warnings in Hebrews against drawing back from faith indicate that a mere past decision without an active, ongoing walk with God is insufficient. Genuine faith manifests itself through a life marked by continuous repentance, growth, and a yearning for the things of God, rather than a static experience that one simply reflects upon as complete.
