Why is acknowledging our sinfulness important for salvation?

Answered in 3 sources

Acknowledging our sinfulness is crucial because it is a prerequisite for coming to Christ for forgiveness and righteousness.

To come to Christ, one must first recognize their condition as a sinner in need of salvation. As articulated in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God," understanding our sinfulness leads us to see our need for Christ’s redemptive work. Without this acknowledgment, we may mistakenly rely on our own righteousness rather than inviting God's grace, which is the only source of true redemption.
