Why is an appetite for Christ important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

An appetite for Christ is vital as it sustains spiritual growth and signifies true faith in a believer's life.

The importance of a desire for Christ in the life of a Christian cannot be overstated. Just as newborns crave their mother's milk for growth and sustenance, believers are encouraged to desire the 'sincere milk of the Word' to grow in their faith. In 1 Peter 2:2, Peter calls Christians to crave this spiritual nourishment because it leads to growth and maturity in their relationship with God. This appetite indicates a heart that has truly 'tasted' the grace of the Lord, reflecting genuine faith and the ongoing need for Christ in every aspect of life. A lack of this appetite can point to spiritual stagnation or even the absence of true faith.
