Why is approaching God through Christ important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Approaching God through Christ is vital because He is the only mediator who guarantees our acceptance before the holy God.

The importance of approaching God through Christ cannot be overstated for Christians. In the Old Testament, we see the necessity for the high priest to properly perform the sacrificial ceremonies to enter into God's presence. This illustrates the reality that all human attempts to reach God on our own are insufficient due to our sinful nature. Hebrews 10:19-22 encourages believers that, through the blood of Jesus, we have boldness to enter the holiest place; His sacrifice opens the way for us. Without Christ, we remain separated from God, unable to bridge the gap created by sin. This truth reassures believers that salvation and true relationship with God are only possible through Jesus, the one who intercedes for us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
