Why is being a servant important in Christianity?

Answered in 1 source

Being a servant is important because Christ modeled servanthood and commanded His followers to serve others.

In Romans 12:7, Paul notes that ministry, which means serving, is a vital part of being a member of the body of Christ. The essence of being a Christian is to follow the example of Jesus, who came not to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45). This servanthood reflects humility and selflessness, qualities that are essential to the Christian experience. By serving others, believers demonstrate their commitment to Christ and His teachings, embodying His love and grace in practical ways. Service is also a means of building up the church and fulfilling the command to love one another.
