Why is being called a friend of God important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Being called a friend of God strengthens our relationship with Him and assures us of His guidance and grace.

For Christians, being recognized as a friend of God is foundational to understanding their identity and standing before Him. This friendship is not based on our merits but on God's sovereign grace and election. As outlined in John 15:16, it is through God’s choice that we come into this unique relationship with Him. Understanding our status as His friends brings great comfort and assurance of His continual presence and support throughout life's challenges. It further assures us that we can approach Him with confidence and that He has ultimate authority over our lives, guiding us for His glory and our good.
