Why is being prepared for judgment important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Being prepared for judgment is vital as it determines eternal destiny and reflects the believer's faith in Christ as their mediator.

Judgment is an unavoidable part of the Christian faith, as emphasized in Revelation 20:11-15. Here, it is affirmed that everyone will stand before God to give an account of their lives. For Christians, this judgment is not a fearful experience because believers are covered by the atoning work of Christ. Romans 8:1 assures us, 'There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.' Understanding that our judgment will be based on God's mercy, through Christ, encourages Christians to live lives reflecting that grace. Being prepared for judgment means embedding our hopes in Christ's sacrifice and living in accordance with His teachings, thereby confirming our election and assurance of salvation. It compels us to reflect on our lives, acknowledging that how we live now carries eternal significance.
