Why is being sealed by God important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Being sealed by God signifies protection, identification as His elect, and assurance of salvation.

The seal mentioned in Revelation signifies God’s ownership and protection of His people. Just as the Israelites were marked by the blood of the Passover lamb, which meant they were spared from judgment, believers are sealed by the Holy Spirit as a mark of their salvation and security in Christ. This sealing guarantees that they are recognized as belonging to God and assures them that they will not face His judgment. Furthermore, the sealing with the Holy Spirit is a down payment of the inheritance that awaits believers in glory, affirming that salvation is both present and ongoing until its ultimate completion in eternal life (Ephesians 1:13-14).
