Why is being thirsty for God important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Being thirsty for God is essential as it signifies a recognition of our spiritual need and dependence on Him for fulfillment.

Spiritual thirst is a critical aspect of the Christian life because it demonstrates an awareness of our desperate need for God. In Isaiah 55:1 we are invited, 'Ho, everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters.' This thirst reflects our innate longing for the presence and sustenance provided by God. The Lord Jesus Christ speaks of this hunger and thirst in Matthew 5:6, saying, 'Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.' Thirsting for God propels us to seek Him actively, fostering a deeper relationship and reliance on His grace, ultimately leading to spiritual growth and nourishment.
