Why is believing in Christ essential for understanding Him?

Answered in 1 source

Believing in Christ is essential because only through faith can one truly understand and witness His glory.

The sermon highlights that recognition of Christ’s identity—who He is—comes through faith. In John 20:30, it states that the signs are written so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, and that believing we may have life in His name. Understanding Christ and His work cannot be achieved through mere intellectual assent; it requires a heartfelt belief in Him, which the Holy Spirit grants to the elect. Therefore, without believing, one remains in darkness and cannot grasp the significance of Christ’s resurrection and His works.
