Why is believing in Christ's name important for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Believing in Christ's name means relying on Him for all that God requires for salvation.

To believe in the name of Jesus Christ is to trust that He bears all responsibility for one's salvation, fulfilling every requirement of God's law on behalf of believers. This concept is illustrated in the analogy of a car's ownership; just as the owner bears responsibility for what happens with the car, so does Christ bear responsibility for all that believers need for their redemption. According to John 1:12, believing in Christ's name grants the right to become children of God, emphasizing that faith in Him is foundational for salvation. When individuals truly place their faith in Christ, they acknowledge their inability to meet God's standards apart from Him.
