Why is believing in Christ so important in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Believing in Christ is essential for salvation as it identifies Him as the Son of God and recognizes His role in our redemption.

John 6:35 teaches us that coming to Christ means believing that He is the bread of life. This belief is not just a mental ascent but a profound trust in who He is as the Son of God. Throughout the Scriptures, faith is described as actively placing our trust in Christ’s redemptive work. When we acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God, we affirm that He is God, able to bring to fruition everything He promises—including our salvation. Thus, belief in Christ is foundational to the experience of salvation.
