Why is believing in truth important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Believing in truth is essential as it brings freedom and aligns believers with God's will through Christ.

In John 18:37, Jesus declares His purpose to 'bear witness unto the truth,' underscoring the critical nature of truth in the Christian faith. Truth is foundational for understanding God's redemption and the nature of salvation, as Jesus said, 'You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free' (John 8:32). For Christians, embracing truth means recognizing that salvation is solely by God's grace and mercy, apart from works (Titus 3:5). This understanding fosters a deep relationship with Christ, who is the embodiment of truth, as He claimed, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life' (John 14:6). Thus, living in accordance with truth not only liberates believers from the bondage of sin but also draws them closer to God’s intended purpose for their lives.
