Why is believing Jesus is God important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Belief in Jesus as God is vital because only God can save and justify sinners.

Believing that Jesus Christ is indeed God is fundamental for Christians because, without this belief, one cannot accept the truth of the gospel. It is only God who has the authority to forgive sins and grant eternal life. Jesus Himself said, 'All authority is given unto me' (Matthew 28:18), signifying that our faith in Him as God is the basis for our hope in salvation. Denying His divinity undermines the entire foundation of the Christian faith, ultimately leading to spiritual death (John 8:24).
