Believing Jesus is the Christ is foundational to Christian faith because it acknowledges Him as the promised one who fulfills God's plan for salvation. As stated in Acts 18:28, the early apostles preached Jesus as the Christ. This belief grants believers the assurance of eternal life, freeing them from the condemnation of sin as expressed in Romans 8:1. Without this faith, one cannot enter the kingdom of God, as Jesus emphasized to Nicodemus in John 3:3.
