Why is believing not just a choice?

Answered in 1 source

Believing is a response to God's truth, and unbelief is a choice made against that truth.

In the sermon, it is highlighted that belief is not merely an act of will but a revelation of God's work within. Unbelief is described as the 'master sin,' reflecting a refusal to accept God's truth even when presented with it. Hebrews 3:18 expresses that unbelief prevents entry into rest, illustrating that resistance to faith has dire consequences. Therefore, true belief is born from recognizing the truth of Christ's testimony, which is actualized in the believer's heart by the Holy Spirit.
