Why is charity described as the greatest virtue in the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Charity, or love, is the greatest virtue because it embodies the essence of God's nature and is eternal.

According to 1 Corinthians 13:13, charity (agape) is the greatest of the three enduring virtues: faith, hope, and love. This is because charity reflects God's character and His unconditional love towards humanity. While faith and hope are foundational for the believer's walk with God, charity is the active expression of that faith in real-life situations. Love is what will abide for eternity; it is the ultimate goal of the Christian life and signifies our very connection with God, nurturing our relationships with others while fulfilling the law of Christ.
