Why is Christ called a tried stone?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is called a tried stone because He has been tested and proven to be faithful and trustworthy in fulfilling God's law.

In Isaiah 28:16, Christ is described as a 'tried stone,' indicating that He has been tested through temptation and trial, yet remained sinless and faithful to God's requirements. The law tested Him, the Father acknowledged Him as His beloved Son, and even temptation from Satan could not sway Him. Jesus exemplified perfect obedience, and as noted in Isaiah 42:1, He upheld the law of God. Therefore, for believers, He stands as a solid refuge, having satisfied divine justice and fulfilled the law on our behalf, which provides us with a righteousness that is accepted by God.
