Why is Christ called the source of living water?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is referred to as the source of living water because He provides spiritual sustenance that satisfies our deepest needs.

In 1 Corinthians 10:4, it states that the spiritual rock that followed the Israelites in the wilderness was Christ. Just as the Israelites relied on water from a literal rock, believers today depend on Christ as the spiritual rock that nourishes and sustains them. Without this divine sustenance, we cannot thrive spiritually. The water, which symbolizes eternal life and salvation, becomes sweet to believers once they understand the significance of Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Our thirst for truth, satisfaction, and spiritual nourishment is fulfilled in Him alone.
