Why is Christ central to the concept of heaven?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is central to heaven because it is through Him that believers receive eternal life and fellowship with God.

The essence of heaven is intertwined with the person of Christ. As emphasized in John 14:6, Jesus declares, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.' This encapsulates the understanding that knowing Christ is essential for entering heaven. Furthermore, Revelation 7 portrays heaven's glory as a continual worship of the Lamb, symbolizing that it is only through His redemptive work that believers are made righteous and able to stand before God. Thus, Jesus is not just a gateway to heaven; He embodies the very essence of eternal life, making heaven, ultimately, relational and personal.
