Why is Christ central to understanding life and death for believers?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is central because through Him, believers have life despite their mortality; they are dead to sin but alive in Him.

The centrality of Christ for believers is underscored in both Jacob's narrative and the teachings of the New Testament. Colossians 3:3 states that believers are 'dead' in their previous lives and 'hid with Christ in God.' This means that while they experience physical mortality, their true life is found in Christ, who provides the hope of resurrection. Just as Jacob relied on Joseph’s provision in Egypt, Christians rely on Christ to sustain them spiritually and to ensure their eternal life. His resurrection becomes the guarantee of the believers' future resurrection and ultimate victory over death.
