Why is Christ considered precious to believers?

Answered in 5 sources

Christ is precious to believers because He is the embodiment of faith, promises, and atonement, deeply relating to their salvation and identity.

In the life of a believer, Christ becomes increasingly precious as their understanding of Him deepens. According to 1 Peter 2:7, to those who believe, He is precious. This preciousness arises from various facets: His role as the source of faith, the giver of precious promises, and the sacrifice through His blood that secures their redemption. Believers find their identity in Him, recognizing that He is more valuable than earthly treasures or relationships. As they grow in grace, the recognition of Christ's lordship and the authority He holds magnifies His worth, making Him invaluable in their lives. Therefore, as their relationship evolves, so too does their appreciation for Christ as the ultimate treasure.
