Why is Christ important for understanding God's patience with humanity?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is essential as He represents the blessing and mercy that prevents God's immediate judgment on humanity.

In the sermon, it's emphasized that the reason God has not destroyed humanity is fundamentally because of Christ—it is for His sake. From Genesis, following Adam's fall, through the flood in Noah's day, to the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, God's mercy is showcased in the promise of salvation through Christ. In every situation, God preserved people because of the blessing that would come through the Messiah. This emphasizes Christ's importance as He is the source of hope and salvation, without which humanity would face immediate destruction due to sin.
