Why is Christ necessary for worship?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is necessary for worship because He is the mediator who fulfills the requirements of God, enabling us to approach Him in grace.

Christ's significance as our mediator is reflected in the worship practices established in the Old Testament, paralleled by the ark's role in the temple. The ark's mercy seat symbolizes Christ, our propitiation and atonement, who reconciles us to God. In Him, the demands of the law are fulfilled, and through His sacrifice, we gain access to the Father. Without Christ, our attempts to worship are flawed and inadequate, as only through His righteousness are we enabled to worship God with a pure heart. The acts of worship such as prayer, preaching, and sacraments become meaningful only when grounded in the work of Christ, as He is the foundation for true worship.
