Why is Christ our rest important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is our rest, allowing us to cease from striving for righteousness through works.

The concept of Christ as our rest is crucial as it signifies the completion of our work through His sacrifice. Under the old covenant, the Sabbath represented a cessation of work and a time of restoration. In Christ, this rest is fulfilled, and by placing our faith in Him, we acknowledge that we are made whole, no longer burdened by the weight of law-keeping. Colossians 2 explains that rituals and observances were but shadows of the reality found in Christ, who brings true rest by fulfilling the law and providing our righteousness. Once we embrace this truth, we find complete rest in Him, freeing us from the anxiety of seeking acceptance through our efforts.
