Why is Christ referred to as our Joshua?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is called Joshua because He is the one who leads His people into the promised land of salvation.

The name Joshua is the Old Testament equivalent of Jesus, and just as Joshua led the Israelites into the promised land, Jesus leads His people into glory. This typology is significant; Moses, representing the law, could not bring the people in due to their disobedience. However, Jesus fulfills the law perfectly and provides the way for believers to enter into eternal bliss. His redemptive work enables us to inherit the promises of God by grace, just as the Israelites entered the land promised to their forefathers.
