Why is Christ’s obedience important for our salvation?

Answered in 3 sources

Christ's obedience is crucial because it provides the perfect righteousness required for our justification.

In Reformed theology, Christ's active and passive obedience is vital for salvation. His perfect life fulfilled the law and established righteousness necessary for justification. Romans 5:19 states, 'For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.' This highlights that believers are justified before God not by their own efforts but by the imputed righteousness of Christ. That is, through faith, His obedience is credited to us, allowing us to stand justified before God.
