Why is Christ's obedience important for salvation?

Answered in 4 sources

Christ's obedience fulfills the law's demands, providing the righteousness needed for our justification.

The obedience of Christ is critical for salvation because it perfectly fulfills the requirements of the law that humanity could not meet. As stated in Galatians 2:16, we are justified by the faith of Christ, not by our own deeds. This means that His obedience to the law, as our federal head, becomes imputed to us when we believe. Moreover, His submission in moments like the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:39) embodies the ultimate act of obedience, as He submitted to the will of the Father for the sake of His people. Therefore, it is through Christ's perfect righteousness that we are clothed and accepted before God, emphasizing that our salvation is entirely dependent on His work.
