Why is Christ's role as our High Priest important?

In His role as High Priest, Christ intercedes for His people, providing a direct connection between humanity and God. As mentioned in Hebrews 4:14-16, He is able to sympathize with our weaknesses because He was tempted in every way but without sin. This makes Him a compassionate mediator who understands our struggles.
