Why is Christ's role as our high priest important for Christians?

Answered in 3 sources

Christ's role as our high priest is vital as He intercedes for us and offers the perfect sacrifice needed for our redemption.

Christ’s role as our high priest holds great importance for Christians since He serves as the ultimate mediator between God and humanity. As depicted in Hebrews 4:14-16, Jesus, being both fully God and fully man, can empathize with our weaknesses and intercede on our behalf before the Father. Unlike the high priests of the Old Testament, who offered sacrifices repeatedly, Christ's once-for-all sacrifice brings eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12). This ensures that believers are accepted fully in Christ, as He provides the necessary righteousness demanded by God. His high priestly ministry is not only one of sacrificial offering but also a continuous intercessory work, assuring believers that their salvation is secure in Him (Hebrews 7:25). Thus, we live not under condemnation but in the assurance of God's grace.
