Why is Christ's sacrifice essential for salvation?

Answered in 12 sources

Christ's sacrifice is essential as He bore our sins, fulfilling the Old Testament prophecies and satisfying God's justice, as stated in Isaiah 53:12.

Christ's sacrificial death is vitally important for salvation because it fulfills the requirements of God's justice while demonstrating His grace. According to Isaiah 53:12, Jesus was 'numbered with the transgressors' and bore the sins of many, making Him our substitute. This doctrine asserts that since sin demands punishment, Christ's atoning sacrifice satisfies divine justice, allowing God to offer forgiveness without compromising His holiness. Furthermore, based on Romans 3:24-26, His sacrifice not only redeems us but also upholds God’s righteousness. Therefore, the death of Christ is not merely an event but the necessary means through which God accomplishes the salvation of His elect, as declared in Revelation 13:8, where He is referred to as the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
