Why is Christ’s sacrifice important for Christians seeking rest?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's sacrifice provides eternal peace and assures believers that their sins are forgiven (Colossians 2:14).

The importance of Christ's sacrifice cannot be overstated. In Colossians 2:14, it states that He 'blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us.' This act means that the debt of our sins has been canceled, and thus, we are no longer under condemnation. For Christians, this assurance of forgiveness lays a foundation for rest. Knowing that Christ has borne our sins and the judgment for them allows us to approach God without fear, entering into a relationship characterized by peace instead of guilt.
