Why is Christ's sacrifice superior to the Old Testament sacrifices?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's sacrifice is superior because it was once for all, securing eternal redemption for His people.

The Old Testament sacrifices were repeated annually because they could not take away sin permanently (Hebrews 10:4). In contrast, Christ's sacrifice was once for all; He shed His perfect blood as our great High Priest, obtaining eternal redemption for His people (Hebrews 9:12). His sacrifice is effective because it doesn't merely cover sin as the animal sacrifices did, but it removes the guilt entirely. This fulfillment of the sacrificial system confirms that the law and its rituals were shadows pointing towards the ultimate atonement that would come through Jesus Christ, making His blood the much greater means of reconciliation between God and humanity.
