Why is Christ the head of the church?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is the head of the church because He governs it and provides for its members as their Savior.

In Ephesians 1:22, we find that God has given Christ to be the head over all things, particularly to the church, which is described as His body. This headship signifies both authority and care; He rules with complete sovereignty and simultaneously serves as the Savior. This glorious role means that Christ directs the life of the church, ensuring that each member fulfills their purpose and is nurtured spiritually. As the head, He not only provides guidance but also imparts life, filling His body with the gifts necessary for growth and ministry. The whole church, as Christ's body, reflects His fullness and works effectively as He upholds it.
